Why We Walk
Sickle cell disease (SCD) is not just about pain. It is also about strength. With the support of our community, people living with sickle cell (we call them sickle cell warriors) are living well with Sickle Cell.
SCD is known for causing episodes of severe pain requiring medical treatment and often hospitalization. However, warriors are not defined by the complications of this disease but by their strength and resiliency.
The purpose of our annual walk is to:
Celebrate World Sickle Cell Day (June 19th)
Support the mission and work of Sickle Cell Foundation of MN
Celebrate the amazing warriors in our community who work hard to live well with Sickle Cell!
